Well I haven't wrote about my play or anything in a while... Today was pretty solid overall. I had a few deep runs but no wins again :( I will win one of these damn tourneys eventually...
I bubbled in a unfoldable spot in the morning $10r... 4 limpers into my BB and I'm holding AK and about 13 bb... all the chips are going in. Except the problem was the first limper had Jacks... nice try Ace King.
I finished 13th in the $5r, nothing you could really do.
I finished 4th in the Ray Schick Invitiational (the afternoon $10r) for ~$670.... screwed at the FT again tho. 4 handed I'm sitting with 250kish at 8-16k blinds, and I get Kings in the SB. It goes: min raise to $32k, min raise to $48k, my shove for $250k, fold fold call with 4's. Runs a straight out, so sick. I felt like I really played the tourney well though, I was pretty low for a while and I clawed my way back. I went from ~18k to ~180k in about 20 minutes with 3 tables left. My rebuy tourney game is really picking up thanks to going over hands and tourneys with Dan and Carder and Kyle.
The $50k and $100k were both busts, I got all in with Aces against A6 in the $50k and he ran a flush and I had alot of trouble in the $100k. I consistently got reraised on my C-bets, unfortunately I wasnt hitting the flops to call :( Threw 7 bb in with KQ from the cutoff only to run into AK in the BB, nice try KQ.
This week was rather miserable, I got myself into makeup with a mix of playing like a spewtard and running like crap. Alot of it can be attributed to my play though. I think I got worn out a bit and taking a few days off got me back going again.
I played some cash games today too, and did rather well (~$140 profit 3 tabling .5/1 NL for a half hour or so). The amount of bluffs I picked off were mind boggling. Lets go through a street by street of one very interesting pot:
I'm dealt Jacks in mid-late position. Theres an UTG limp and it folds to me. I raise to $3.50. The guy directly to my right who was a complete blufftard calls, the SB calls, and then UTG calls.
The flop comes 8-7-2, 2 diamonds. the SB checks and the UTG limp/caller bets $7.50. Now, I can pretty much eliminate the top 10% of hands from his range here, there's no way he doesn't reraise with Aces, Kings, Queens, AK, AQ. Maybe he limps with the AK/AQ, but I got that beat on this flop. If he flopped a set, he prob check/raises here. I hadn't seen sophisticated enough play from him to consider a set on a lead out. I decide just to call and see what else happens. The spewtard calls and the SB folds. I instantly put the spewtard on the flush draw.
The turn comes a 9 of spades and our UTG villain bets out $18.75. Again, I feel like I'm beating him but this is a tough spot to put a raise in. I could get reraised pretty light here and throw away the best hand. At the same time in retrospect, a raise eliminates the flush draw guy from another shot at drawing out, although he is a spewtard so he may have called anyway. Regardless, he calls the $18.75 and we see a river.
The river comes a 7, and I instantly feel like I have this hand won. I really can't see the UTG guy having a 7 here, he either has an 8 or pure air. MAYBE he flips over 10s on occassion, I could see that too. He shoves his stack in for $31.75 and you will have to pry these cards away from me. I call and the spewtard folds (which I think confirms my suspicions on the flush draw).
UTG flips over K8 for a flopped top pair and nice try K8, ship the $150 pot to me.
