January Report

Well, January overall was a pretty successful but eye-opening to my play and goals.

Near the end of the month, I learned that my ROI(and hourly profit) would be better served by 6-tabling instead of 9-12.  I went from a 2% ROI at the time of switch to a 7% ROI by the end of the month.  So I'll be doing that from now on, however, it's going to cut into my volume.  I'd rather make more money/hr tho.

MTT's were terrible even tho I showed a profit.  Too many deep runs that were unsuccessful.  I did have the 3rd place finish in the $10r for ~$1100ish, and 6th in the $20k for $870ish, but I struck out in every Sunday major.  I do have a $250k seat locked up for next month though.

SNG's: 491 played, 7% ROI, $891 profit
MTT's: 91 played, 67% ROI, $1,468 profit
Also $387.62 in RB

Pace:

SNG's: 5,892 played, $10,692 profit

Those numbers should change once I move up to $50's and higher.  By Feb 15 I should be playing half $25's, half $50's.  I'm also now supplementing my DU play with $10 45-man SNG's on Tilt(along with my newlyfound 27% RB)  So far I've played 7 of them, won one, finished 2nd and 4th in others.  So that's going very well.

2nd Week- '09

Well i went on a not so good 70 game downswing right after this blog... went 32-38 in 2 days.

The good news is I've done alot better since!  Went 52-24 in the $25's, played 2 $50's and split them...

I've found that playing these on Sunday is going to be really difficult, which cuts into my numbers quite a bit.  We may have to change some things around, haven't figured out what yet.

I got the new computer and set up the 22's which is exciting, alot more room to work with now both screen-wise and desk-wise.  I do get a draft from the window tho which kinda sucks, gotta fix that.

Sunday went pretty well, I won 2 tournaments ($3 Turbo and $30 NL, fields were only ~110 and 12 I think lol), and finished 2nd in the $12 Turbo.  Also cashed the $55 $10k, but didnt get anything but a min cash.  Missed cashing in the $50k by 30 spots or so, ran AK into Aces with 10bb, nothing I can do.

But my big "victory" was finishing 3rd in last night's $10r for $1150.  That was huge, I got out of makeup and made small profit, nothing crazy.

After Week 2: 251 SNG's played, $608.64 profit, 6.14% ROI in $27's, 12.15% ROI in $53's (only 5 played)

Pace: 6526 SNG's played, $15,824.64 profit

As you can see, I'm well off pace... I'm also 70 SNG's off pace right now from where I expected to be.  If I can get back on pace, thats $5k I'm picking up in the profit column based on my current ROI.  Got work to do.  Good thing is I got some time to do it, session tomorrow night, and Sat Meg isn't coming til later, so I'll put a good morning/afternoon run in hopefully

First Week of '09

Well, not completely off to the start I wanted... I just haven't put the volume in yet.  I've played 101 DU's so far to the tune of a 6% ROI.  Given me $194 in profit, and another $70 or so in RB.  I'm off pace though, I should have 160 done by now.  I didn't play this Sunday though, and last night I only played 22(and had my best session so far this year, 17-5)

Recently, I think I was shoving too much.  I wasn't getting enough value from my big hands and I was getting crushed when I was behind by doing this, severely hindering my edge.  I got back to keeping it small last night, 2.5-3x raises with 10bb and min-raises very late to accumulate chips.

Another thing I was doing wrong was getting too involved late, esp. on the bubble.  I cut back a little bit on that too, and last night's results show a dramatic improvement (I was in the - for profit for the year before last night).

Went deep in the $10r after a blistering run, I had 25k at the end of the rebuy period buying in for the minimum halfway through the hour, and 50k at the bubble.  I ran JJ into AK for a 120k pot, but it wasn't meant to be :(  Oh well, I played it very well.

Week 1: 101 SNG's, $263 profit, 6% ROI in $27's, 25% ROI in 53.5's (only 3 played)
Pace: 5,252 SNG's, $13,676 profit

As you can see I'm obv well off pace, but makes sense.  ROI is 2% under my goal, and I played ~60 less SNG's then I wanted to.  I'll have to make them up somewhere (Saturday morning session prob, or an extended Fri session)  But I've seen by playing Sunday I can easily reach the numbers I set forth, which is good to know.

Been a While... Reflect on 2008/2009 Goals

Well, 2008 is in the books poker-wise, and its on to 2009.

Highlights of 2008:
-Getting backed
-FT'ing the $50k and $100k on Cake in B2B weeks, also finishing 2nd in the $10r in those same weeks
-*Some* profit
-Lot of close calls to make some serious money, unfortunately... didn't hit the big big scores this year.

I had a goal of getting to $10k in profit... I didn't come close.  I got closer, but no go.  This is because I didn't really have much of a plan, nor did I stick to one I would formulate.  So, I came up with one and here we go...

-Play4 days a week, 40 DU's a day
-At least 25% of them must be $50's or higher, although I think it'll be exclusively $27's for the first few months with a few $50's mixed in
-Maintain an 8% ROI in the $27's (I'm off pace in this, I need to work on improving)
-Maintain a 5% ROI in the $50's or above
-Not playing more then consecutive days for the most part (Sun-Mon, Thurs-Fri, and occassional Sat mornings)
-Sundays obv play any and all tournies possible
-Final table the $50k/$100k/$250k 3 times combined
-Win a tournament a month
-End with $10k+ profits in tournaments

If I do this, it will get me to 8500 SNG's on the year...

8% ROI in 75% $27's= $13,770 profit + $4,207.5 RB
5% ROI in 25% $50's= $5,685 profit + $2,454 RB

Total Profit= $26,116.5 (Would be nice IMO)

Things to note:

-8% ROI prob unrealistic in the $27's if I'm constantly 9-12 tabling... 6 tabling would be a different story, but I wouldn't get enough volume in to justify it.
-I can prob end up with more then 25% of my volume above the $50 mark.  I just know that early on its going to be exclusively $27's as I fine tune my game a little.
-I will stay fresh as I get an average of 15 tables in per hour, so this should take 3 hours a night on the times I do it.  Sundays I will just mix in to my regular volume.

I just bought a new computer, router, and I got the new monitors so handling the volume isn't going to be a problem hardware wise.   I just need to stick to it.

I'll start updating this more, it'll keep me on pace hopefully.  Wish me luck

Puckin Nuts Hockey is back

We played our first game Sunday night and won 7-4. I played a pretty decent game, I felt pretty good out there. Almost got that first goal but pretty much got robbed with about 10 seconds left in the game, oh well. Would rather just win games and keep them from having good scoring chances. Our next game is this Sunday at 9pm, hopefully we can put another win on the board!

Ship the Monies

Made two deep runs last night but no dice on the big score.

33rdish in the $10kGuar, ran JJ into AQ for a large stack, guy was a shoving machine so I figured I was at worst a coin flip. Wrong side tho IMO.

24thish in the $5k Turbo, shoved K10s on the button straight into the eye of AK and QQ. Flopped too many outs (10 + 2 flush cards), but wasn't meant to be. Oh well

Crushed cash again, the 11:30pm-12:30am session may become a staple in my schedule. I have murdered that session at .5/$1 for nearly a grand this week alone 8-tabling. MBN

Nearly $6,900 and counting hollerrrrrrrrr
